BLOG 1 - Personal Information

Hi! I am Andrea Berrios, I was born in Santiago but I have lived in Chiloé since I was 2 years old because my parents got bored of the city life. 


In my family we are 4, my father is a school inspector, my mother works in a neighborhood mini-market, and my brother is 15 years old. Almost every weekend we go to the country, to my grandmother's house there it is very quiet and beautiful. 


When we first arrived here I was studying in a rural school with very few students, then we moved to Castro and I studied at the Wanelen-we school, then at the Galvarino Riveros high school. Now I am studying visual arts at the University of Chile. 


Since I was little, I like to play with paint,  pencils and create anything. When I studied at the high school I was finally decide to study Arts, although now I don't know what to do in the future, but I love what I do and it motivates me to learn things every day in class and by myself.





I like to go for a walk in nature and take photos, it gives me a lot of peace. For now I do it on 

foot and with the camera of my cell phone but I am saving for a Canon camera or a bike.

Blog 3 - My Favorite Piece of Technology

I would say that my favorite piece of technology is my cellphone because I love it, but I really hate the dependancy. So in second place I talk about my graphic tablet. I got it this year on April  It was dificult at first because I don't look my hand at the moment I use the pencil so my cordination was awful, and It's a little limited, talking about proportions but provides many other very useful tools (like a million pencil styles).   At first I use it only for learnin digital drawing, now that Im more familiar with it, I like it because I use it for my university works or taking notes in classes.  I would say that Im not finish of learning, and Im not feeling secure with the things that I make. Anyway, It's a very useful tool and a very long learning and without it at some point I have to buy some.

In my childhood i dreamed a lot of being a ballet dancer,  I loved the music and the expressions of the dancers but my parents never enrolled me in any academy or something :,( I think the decision to study arts was always there, but I didn't know it until I realized that I couldn't really see myself in another career. Now I think that if I had not chosen arts, I would be studying Forest Engineering at UACH in Valdivia. Going to university meant many things to me. Leaving my house, my family and my friends to go live in Santiago was difficult at first but it ended up being an experience to grow in some aspects of my life and I enjoying the career a lot, (except for the pandemic).  Now I am very interested in the world of illustration, more specifically in children's stories and working on that would be very beautiful because children's movies and album books marked my childhood a lot.   Ponyo is my favorite movie of Ghibli world
